Gardening101

This article will introduce you to gardening in Wizard101. We will start with the basics a new Wizard101 gardener needs to know.

Why start Gardening?

There are a lot of reasons to start gardening in Wizard101.  The most common reason a young Wizard might garden is for pet snacks.  Pets play a very important role in your gear and stats, and to train one you’ll need snacks. Gardening is one of the best sources of Mega Snacks in the game!

Another popular reason is for reagents. You can harvest rare reagents including Amber, Blood Moss, and Springs by gardening.

Plants can also give gold and treasure cards. A well-maintained garden can supply your Wizard with constant gold!

Plant Stages

Seedling: A seedling is the plant as soon as you’ve planted it.  It won’t develop needs, and there’s not much to do but wait.

Young: The first stage of growth.  It will take longer to reach the next stage and will have needs you have to attend.

Mature: This stage takes the longest, has the most needs and requires the most work to maintain. In this stage you also start collecting rewards from your garden.

Elder:  At this final stage your plants will no longer require any tending and can be left for as long as you like.  It is here that you get the best rewards.

Wilting: This is the first stage of a dying plant and it occurs if you fail to meet a seed’s needs.  You can correct this stage by meeting the seed’s needs, but the plant will reset to the Young stage.

Dead:  This is the stage your plant will reach if you completely ignore it. It will cost 30 energy and the Revive spell to get it back if you let it reach this stage.

Soil Types

In Wizard101 we can’t plant any seed on any soil plot size. Each seed has a specific soil size. It is important to know that each size comes with an Enchanted version that some plants may need.

Small Soil

Medium Soil

Large Soil

Growing Spells

Sunlight

Water

Pollination

Magic

Music

You will often find your plants needing one or more of these five things. These are growing spells, they allow your seed to grow to higher stages.

You can access better versions of these five spells at higher gardening ranks. You will meet Farley’s many cousins in other worlds of the Spiral as you level up in game. These higher ranked spells will allow you to tend many plants with the use of one spell.

Pests

Pests are just that, pests!  They’re little bugs or other annoying beings that like to come and eat away at your healthy plants.

Taking care of your plants by killing pests is a necessity.  Wizard101 pests can range from ranks one to seven. Stronger pests need stronger spells to treat them.

Learn these spells from Farley and his cousins like the other gardening spells you have learned.

Concepts to Understand

Likes

Dislikes

Needs

A ‘like’ boosts your plants growth speed.

A plants likes can be many things. For example, a furniture item, another seed, and even some houses can be ‘likes’.
A ‘dislike’ decreases your plants growth speed.

These can be anything from a furniture item, another seed or a specific house.
A ‘need’ is something your plant needs to prevent it from dying.

These include water, sunlight, music, magic, pollination and pest control.

Beginners Tips

There are many little things I wish I knew when I started gardening. Knowing these will make your life easier, so let’s have a look.

House:  Some houses provide an immediate Like to plants. The current houses to offer this benefit are the Red Barn Farm and the Botanical Gardens.

Energy:  Do not try to plant a large garden without energy gear. Large gardens drain a ton of energy, and you’re going to need all you can get.

Liked plants can be dead:  This is a weird one. A plant that you use only as another plants “Like” doesn’t need to be alive to give the “Like” benefit.

What to Start With

At Level 1 your primary goal should be to advance in gardening levels as fast as possible. This is so you can start having bigger gardens and using better seeds.

An easy to grow Level one seed that gives 3000 XP at elder is Key Lime. Key Limes also drop gold and Shocked Keys. They have easy to meet likes, such as a Water-Mole Statue and a Tropical Garden Gnome to help them grow faster. Key Limes are my first choice for any new gardener.

I hope you find this guide helpful. Now take your new found gardening knowledge into the Spiral and sow some adventure!

Spring 2020 Test Realm Updates!

As we enter April, the first Wizard101 update for 2020 is here!!! Past Spring Updates have brought popular quality of life changes, as well as new features and systems. Two updates you may remember included Monstrology and Hatchmaking. The 2020 update lives up to those expectations without a doubt. So, let’s explore what Spring is going to bring to the Spiral this year!

Beastmoon maps and changes

The first thing KI revealed early told us a lot about the future of the Beastmoon Hunt. We get two new maps in the hunting grounds! A beautiful, underwater Celestian building and an industrial Aquilan quarry. These new maps add swimming and new adventure to Beastmoon Hunt, potentially changing strategy and game-play.

In the same teaser we learned that changes would be made that will allow us to group-up and hunt together with our friends!

pets!

Pets are receiving lots of attention in this update! The first change we’ll look at is an update to pet training. The new system works in tiers. Upon completing any pet mini-game 25 times, the option to skip the game unlocks. This new system allows you to feed your pet snacks and level them up faster than ever before. I feel that this update will help make pet training more accessible to Wizards of all levels. Below you can also see the new Pet UI and the new pet-based event, the Pet Promenade.

The addition of an exciting new pet talent, called “Will-cast” is the next fantastic update. Unlike May-cast talents, Will-casts aren’t cast by random chance. Instead, the talent appears in your Wizards’ hand to be cast at your direction. While currently restricted from PvP, it could be interesting to see this come to the Arena if it could be balanced. The new stat called Happiness determines these talents. To cast a Will-cast spell, you need a high enough level of Happiness.

You can control your pets if your Happiness is high enough. This depletes at a rate of 5 Happiness per second, but you can feed your pets snacks to increase their Happiness as you go.

Set Bonuses!

New set bonuses could redefine the “best” gear sets entirely. Now, equipping multiples pieces from a gear set will give you bonus statistics. This update allows for gear adjustments and stat maximizing that were never possible before, potentially unlocking exciting new gear setup strategies. We also get a brand new interface for inspecting gear! Now you can use Ctrl + Right-click to see where another Wizard got their gear!

New gold key boss

This update also brings an exciting new boss to challenge us! Meet Fellspawn, a new Gold Key boss that was locked away inside the Wizard City catacombs by the ancient Druids. Although the challenge is nice, Fellspawn is not too difficult and is expected to drop Dragoon’s gear!

Fishing in Khrysalis!

Fish have slowly spread through the Spiral over the years. Now, fishing has finally come to the end of the second arc in Khrysalis. There are eight new fishies for you find, so go out there and catch them all!

Housing!

This update also brings a much-awaited quality of life change to housing. The new Advanced Move system makes the old rug-glitching system practically irrelevant. Items can now be moved or placed wherever you see fit!

Shadow Magic

Impactful changes are coming to Shadow Magic. Now, Shadow enhanced spells like Shrike will backlash every single time. Backlash starting values have changed, and final backlash caps out at +70%. For example: at the start of a round when you cast Shrike, you will get +40 Backlash. When you blade or hit, you receive -10. So, even if you flawlessly execute your Shadow’s preferred moves, you will still be hit with at least ten backlash at the end. This change will be impactful in PvE and the Arena. Further changes in the Arena include PvP becoming turn-based as the standard mode, and tournaments free to enter. However, tournament rewards have been temporarily removed.

All of this is subject to change, as that is the fun of Test Realm. Make sure to log on and check it out yourself. Don’t forget to let us know what you think at the Ravenwood Community, or on Twitter. We would love to see pictures of your adventures in Test Realm, like this one of me as my pet little Boomer!

The Spring Scroll of Fortune

It’s been a thrilling Winter here in the Spiral. Updates to the Spiral Showcase, Beastmoon Hunt, and Deckathalon have brought more Wizards to these exciting events. Many Scrolls throughout the Spiral were completed, and paintings hung. So, as we transition into Spring, lets look at the awesome rewards we can earn for ourselves this season!

The cosmetics!

Thankfully, this Scroll of Fortune has decided to continue one of my favorite parts of the Winter Scroll, the cosmetics!  A new hat and wand are available, as well as an awesome new teleport effect and a unique new emote. So, lets take a look!

This season there is an unbelievably charming new emote. Instead of summoning a snowball to pelt your enemies, you create a beautiful flower using your hands and a little bit of magic!

The teleport effect is also very seasonal. A ray of sunshine leads to tall blades of grass that surround you, before exploding in a burst of leaves and flower petals.

The first wearable unlock is the Wild Hair, which I will be using as my new Life Wizard stitch!  It’s unique and I love the way the tree roots form horns.

The Sprig of Spring is a cute and lively wand. A variety of flowers grow from a vine covered stem, and could be used on a variety of stitches. I’ll be using it for my energy gear.  It seems so appropriate for gardening!

Event Items!

This season we’re definitely going to receive our fair share of event based rewards!  These will provide an edge in your Beastmoon Hunts and School Deckathalons.  A humongous total of 975 Lunari is available in the Scroll!

Packs filled with runes, various moonstone based rewards, over a dozen Beastmoon Idols, as well as copious amount of Lunari will all aid you on your way through the upcoming events.

Reagents, Spellements and elixirs!

Once again, the Scroll spoils us with a litany of rare reagents.  These will undoubtedly make your life easier, as Shining Scales can be hard to fish for and Participation Trophies do force you into PvP!  The clay variants in particular may come in very handy for anyone who still needs to farm Sinbad.

However what may be the most helpful is the grand total of 35 Daybreaker or Nightbringer Spellements!

The elixirs are an impressive reward, they’re quite literally member benefits on demand!  This Scroll comes with various helpful elixirs, including Double Pet and Gardening rewards!

A fun and unique reward features, the Random Elixir reward makes a return this season.  We wish you the best of luck :Luck: :Luck: :Luck: :Luck:!

The Best of the rest!

As always, there are some really sweet rewards that don’t fit into a category. These rewards are super useful and will be graciously accepted by all of us that unlock them.

This season we are given a lot of gold. Like, a lot. A maximum reward of 20,000 is a fantastic mid tier prize.

A massive total of 45,000 is really appreciated by anyone. I mean, who doesn’t like free gold?

There’s also a single mount early on in this Scroll. An adorable Warthog with a comedic, over-sized head will give you the speed you need this season!

A great 40% boost and a 7 day period will allow you to travel in style for a full week!

The Spring Globe is an awesome housing decoration, that can allows you to bring the spring theme of the Scroll to any of your houses. The Spring fish tank is also a nice novelty reward that is becoming a seasonal collectible.

We also get treated to a free few packs, like a Druid’s Hoard pack. Hopefully, you get exactly what you want! There is also a Fairy Friend Pet Jewel, which gives your ancient pet may-cast fairy!

And of course, never forget the best item on the entire Scroll! An awesome collectible that I will strive towards achieving! This of course, is the Spring Scroll of Fortune painting!

So, go out there over the next few months and enjoy Spring! You haven’t got long before these rewards are gone forever! Make sure to let us know your favorite parts of the scroll below!

Winter Scroll of Fortune!

It’s been an exciting four months since I last spoke to you about a Scroll of Fortune! We’ve seen a massive game update appear in our world, as small icicles form outside. Welcome, ladies and gentlemen of the Spiral, to the Wizard101 Winter Scroll of Fortune! It’s going to be a great ninety days full of events and fun!

The Cosmetics!

If we had to choose one thing that this Scroll does better than the previous edition, it would be the cosmetics! Not only do we get two custom emotes once again, but also a unique teleport effect and two stitch-able items!

The emotes are fun this time. Thematically appropriate, the new “Snowball” emote will spark pranks and mischief with your friends while the “Winter” teleport effect surrounds your Wizard with icy spikes before shattering to pieces!

But there is
certainly one emote to rule them all. The “Let It Snow” emote is a fantastic reference to Elsa, from Disney’s “Frozen,” and couldn’t be timed better with the recent release of the sequel! I feel like I’m going to be singing a lot with this emote!
These two items for stitching are unique to this Scroll of Fortune. With dazzling, sparkly effects, they are really funky! “The Cold Cut” hairdo is going to be my Ice’s new default stitch. It’s really cool, excuse the pun, and will work well with everything. The “Wintercrystal Wand” includes an icy blade and a pine cone in its design. I like it for its unique appearance and value as a rarer item, it’s an awesome wand design.

The Event Items!

Ramping up a lot this season is the Scroll’s emphasis on event-based rewards and items. This scroll rewards you with Beastmoon Idols, Deckathalon Rune’s, packs, and a sum total of 925 Lunari throughout its tiers! It’s worth it for these rewards alone if you’re trying to take advantage of events when they come around.
The largest individual Lunari prize you’ll be receiving is 500. But, with a grand total of 925, buying level upgrades or recipes to enhance your Beastmoon Hunt experience has never been easier!

On top of that, the Scroll drops a lot of Beastmoon Idols. These will help with tier improvements or unlocking forms you choose to follow. It is unfortunate that the only known way to get the Balance Wolf Idol is through the Scroll, as it means playing him won’t be possible for every player. But, they’re a fantastic bunch of rewards!

The Reagents and Elixirs!

My oh my. There are so many awesome elixirs available to you throughout this Scroll! These elixirs will bring you an array of member benefits whenever you’d like them. Not to mention some very valuable and very rare reagents for us to grab ahold of too!

Participation Trophies are now obtainable without having to do tournaments! Magical Clay is available to make Sinbad farming easier! Shining Scales up for grabs, without spending hours fishing? And don’t even get me started on the free Amber!

While “only three” of each may not seem like a lot, I’d be more than happy to remind you how difficult some of these can be to get!
Major Gold Elixirs, Double Gardening Elixirs, Double Pet Experience Elixirs and so many more! Having a personal member benefit in your back pocket will be helpful for whatever you’d like to do in the Spiral!

Not to mention a mysterious Random Elixir!  We have to ask ourselves what elixir this be? Could we grab ourselves a Level 50 Elixir or a free One Month Elixir? It seems unlikely that it could, but it would be exciting if they did!

The Best of the Rest!

While the rewards highlighted were what this author deems most relevant, that does not mean the other rewards aren’t amazing. There’s an awesome variety of goods and rewards that we could grasp.
This Jewel, if you didn’t know, was previously available only through Kroger cards!

Giving a pet of your choice a may cast Mass Feint and also a Pain Bringer talent; this jewel will surely find use in a variety of PvE or PvP focused pets.
In this authors opinion, this is the most unexpected reward from this Scroll. Giving us a free recipe for a winter-themed house, you can save on gold if you’d like to craft it. It’s definitely a unique reward, and it leaves me curious as to what future Scrolls could bring.

The Scroll also has many Crowns items. Some of the rewards include Deckathalon focused packs and Sinbad’s Hoard Packs! You’ll also be able to grab a hold of various Reagent and Snack packs along your journey.

Make sure you don’t forget to level all the way up to the limited Painting item once again. These are bound to become collector’s items one day and you’ll kick yourself if you don’t grab one while you can!

So, what do you think about this new Winter Scroll of Fortune? Will you be buying it this season? It’s great to remember it’s retroactive, so feel free to buy it after you have finished the scroll in its entirety! I’ve already grabbed mine, and I’m looking forward to a bunch of Snowball fights in my near future!

The Fall 2019 Update!

As has become an annual event, the Fall 2019 test realm has just been released, and brought with it a major content update!  With new areas, expansive lore updates and some really epic features, this update has it all!  So lets delve deep into this vast array of new content and explore what it has to offer.

The Wizard City Underground!

After months of waiting, we finally are given the chance to learn about what happened to poor old Landscaper Doug!  Level 15 and above Wizards can adventure down into the Old Town Drain Gauntlet, in the hopes of finding him. Down under, you’ll find the Subterranean Sanitation Operations Boss, or Boss for short. He’ll definitely remember our Wizard’s assistance!

Many levels later, upon completing Bartelby’s Scion quest line at the beginning of Empyrea Part 2, the next part of the Underground will unlock! Renee will call to us again, as we are the only “topsider” trusted to solve this mysterious issue. Something has corrupted the trash of Wizard City and brought it to life! It is our job to find the source of these monsterous creations and put an end to it! Along the way, we learn an insane amount of new lore that has to do with the origins of Ravenwood and so much more. We won’t spoil that here however, so stay tuned for our next article aptly titled The Wizard City Underground Story!

These new areas bring with them new mobs, storylines, characters and content for you to sink your teeth, and your wand, into!  I’ve spent the last four hours on test realm and I’m still not done!

The Backpack Butler!

How many times have you had to spend hours, days, even weeks looking for an item? Whether it’s a piece of gear or a housing item, you just can’t seem to remember where you stashed it. Well this, right here, is your solution!  The Backpack Butler will cost you a mere 2500 gold, and can be found in many furniture stores throughout the Spiral!

Now our Wizards can search for an item of our choosing! The new Butler, I named mine Gerald, will then search every single location possible for our character in order to locate it!

He’ll search our inventory, bank, shared bank, houses, attics, vaults and more until he finds what you’re looking for!  This feature will revolutionize the Wizard101 inventory system!  Perhaps more remarkably, it marks the first time we’ve seen an in-game search function (besides that of the Crowns shop). Could this lead to new search features in the future? What about one for the Bazaar?

Only time will tell. But for now, I’m going to use Gerald to find my old 50 Million Player Monolith, an item I have been missing for months!

Hatchmaking Kiosk Talent Search!

If there was ever a feature we needed to have added to the already great Hatchmaking Kiosk, it was this.  Simply select the Search for pet talents option located in the top right hand corner of the Kiosk.  From there, simply search for whichever talents you want and select them!  What will follow is a list of every possible pet with those talents available.

Alongside this massive improvement, there has been a change made to the browsing pages in the Kiosk. A new check mark will appear next to any pet you’ve acquired in your Pet Tome! Collecting all the pets in the Spiral has just been made a lot easier!

Spellwrighting!

This new feature has me extremely excited about what’s to come for the future of our spells in Wizard101! The ability to farm for Spellements, a new type of reagent, that allows us to modify our own spells is incredible!  Variations revealed by Kingsisle have shown accuracy increases, damage range increases and even the removal of damage ranges as a whole, replaced by a consistent amount! It’s exciting to think of the crazy variations that might one day become possible!

It appears that at first this feature will be limited to our original 1 pip spells, as shown by Kingsisle in their update notes, and the two new spells.  Nightbringer and Daybreaker are two new Sun school enchantments, found throughout the Wizard City Underground area!  Collecting enough of these rare Spellement reagents will allow you to modify them! This involves increasing the amount you can carry, their added pip cost, and how many of them can be reshuffled.

It’s likely these enchantments will have a role to play in PvP, as their delayed effect can allow for combinations and strategies not previously possible. It’s only a matter of time until someone finds a new, exciting way for them to be used!

Castle Magic Additions!

Housing enthusiasts rejoice! Castle Magic is receiving a set of three new additions for you all to play with. A whopping 36 new effect spells have now been added to your arsenal. These include Shadow and Loremaster spells!

A new utility spell will allow you to disable the PvP sigil in your house. The action spell will allow you to teleport all players within the castle to you!  These can be very useful, as well as great fun and cause for mischief!

Event Updates!

This update also brings about expansions to the two major events in Wizard101 as of right now, the Beastmoon Hunt and the Deckathalons.  We are unable to see this content as of right now, but we’ll be bringing you all the information when it drops in a future update of the Test Realm!

The Spiral Showcase event has also been made a little easier to gain points for. Changes have been made to pet training and team up options to allow points to be gained more easily. However no new means of gaining those points have been added as of right now.

Slap on your theory caps Wizards, maybe all the spoilers and leaks about new maps and other updates are going to come true!

So what else changed?

Lots of other little details have been changed in our precious Spiral.  Some of the more notable changes include the removal of a level requirement for owning houses and fixes to friend’s list issues. These quality of life changes fall in alongside a couple bug fixes and optimization changes to help the game become an even better version of itself!

What do you think?

For me, this is probably the best update we’ve received in a long time. I left out a lot about the Underground areas for my next article intentionally, because the content is genuinely amazing. I enjoyed every second of the hours I played for, and I know that tomorrow I’ll be doing the exact same thing! It’s these massive updates, alongside the beautiful changes we’ve all wanted for years, that allows the game to continue to flourish. I believe that this update will go a long way in continuing the games legacy!

So what do you think of these changes?  Let us know with a tweet or a comment down below.  And of course, make sure to stay tuned for the rest of the upcoming update articles!

Spooky Halloween Stitches

With the spooky season fast approaching, it’s time for us to drag all the skeletons out of the closet!  So, organize your wardrobe, break out the mirror, and get ready to create your own personal Halloween themed stitch. We’ll take you through some of the most popular and scariest stitches you can use this Halloween in the Spiral!

We’re going to be breaking down various options from different sources. We’ll be giving you options for every piece of gear too, so you can make sure you’re fully decked out in your spookiest attire.  Make sure to mix and match any pieces of gear to make a look that’s completely your own!

Hats

Hats are one of the most important parts of any stitch, as we’re naturally drawn to our characters faces.  Fortunately, we have a litany of scary masks and hats just for the occasion!

To the right, you can see various options I’d recommend.  You could be a Mummy, a Vampire, a Skeleton, or anything else you can imagine. A lot of Halloween hats cover the Wizards face, which can be very cool for the scary, dead theme!

My personal favorites include the Skeleton Hat, Spooky Carnival Hat and the Pumpkin Masks.  They work really well with just about anything!

Robes

Robes are the biggest part of any stitch, taking up more visual space on a Wizard than hats and boots combined!  You’ll want to make sure you choose the perfect robe for your stitch.

Fancy Vampire robes for a suave and scary Wizard might be exactly what your stitch needs.  Or, if you are focusing on the more deadly aspects of Halloween, a Mummy or a Skeleton robe might be just what you are looking for!  The Spooky Carnival robe is also a fun and slightly more unique choice.

However, my personal favorite robe for Halloween is Youkai’s Death stitch robe!  I think it works great with anything, allowing you to mix and match while suiting all your scary needs!

Boots

The boots are a fun part of any stitch.  I find they’re the piece I fuss over the most. Even though they’re nearest to the ground and comparatively smaller to robes, it’s really noticeable if they don’t fit the look.

Pack boots such as the Terror’s Hoard Boots or the Ancient Purrzian variants work great!

You can also use the more traditional options, such as the Vampire, Mummy and Skeletal Boots as they can work brilliantly.  However, they can be harder to mix and match in some cases.

I personally use the Ancient Purrzian Galesh, which have an awesome color scheme and a great skull pattern!

Wands

I have always considered the wand to be the most important part of any stitch.  They have to match the overall look, and in many instances they are the signature piece that completes it.  So, here are my seasonal favorites.

The Pumpkin and Witch wands found in the Shopping District carry the Halloween spirit.  They’re delightfully frightening options for any ghoulish stitch.

Some other possible choices come from packs, bundles and drops. Malistaire’s Wand and Hades’s Staff might be exactly what you’re looking for. Or, what about a scary floating eyeball, with dragon wings like the Terror’s Hoard wands?

My favorite is the Spooky Throwing Knife.  It’s scary, glowing, and has a skull in the grip!

So make your own stitch now!

I hope these options inspire you to create your own Halloween stitch!  Who knows, maybe it will help you win Kingsisle’s Halloween Decorating Contest!  Here’s a look at what I came up with for my wizard. We offer you this chilling challenge, tweet us or post on Facebook showing us what your Wizard looks like this spooky season @RW_Academy101  and join in the fun.

Enjoy all the Tricks and Treats in the Spiral Wizards!

The Hardest Crafting Recipe!

Have you ever thought about what the hardest thing to craft in Wizard101 might be? Which world is the most difficult, and in particular, what recipe is the most challenging in the entire game?

Well, we have tons of crafting guides that cover all the worlds in the Spiral, but lets look at the most difficult recipe to date, the Chain Reel!

You might make a case for the Revered crafting wands. They require good amounts of Flying Squid Ink, Aethyr Ore and also the Participation Trophies. A lot of worlds when questing and ranking up your crafting also challenged us, worlds like Dragonspyre come to mind. But trust me, none of them compare to what you’re about to see…

Don’t let me having all the reagents mislead you. 50 Flying Squid Ink and 100 Aethyr Ore is already rather taxing, but there’s a killer involved.

Getting 50 Platinum is only describable as absurdly difficult. It only really drops from the Accursed Play gauntlet and is still really rare. A lot of people who play actively on their max characters may not even have a single one, not to mention 50!

So let’s tackle getting these reagents so we can achieve this recipe!

Getting the Reagents!

The Squid Ink looks somewhat daunting, though honestly, you will most likely get enough from questing through Empyrea Part Two and farming for your Paradox gear.

The Aethyr Ore is a rather massive set-back. While farming in the Reverie or Husk can let you achieve what you need in a couple hours. That’s of course if you make use of transmutation, which trust me, you’ll want to do.

The most difficult reagent is the 50 Platinum. To clarify, if only using transmutation to achieve a single Platinum, it will cost you ten trillion Stone Blocks…

That’s ten followed by twelve zeros. 10 000 000 000 000 for one Platinum, so you’d need fifty times that for the full recipe.

While that absurd number sets in, it’s important to note that the only way I found to do this was by purchasing the Platinum with Empowers. But be careful if you try this, it’s not easy. This recipe cost me a lot of Empowers, probably over 1000. It’ll take a while to accomplish this feat!

Why craft it?

This is something I was asked a lot. Why Kyle? What for Kyle? To be honest, because I could. I enjoy doing these difficult things in games. The item itself, the Chain Reel, is an absolutely useless housing item.

I did it for the challenge mostly. To be able to say “look what I did !” Do you think you can do it too? Take the Chain Reel Challenge and post your finished Chain Reel on Twitter, Facebook, or Discord. Tag us at Ravenwood Academy so we can admire your work! I challenge you to craft the Chain Reel!

The NEW Scroll of Fortune

The new Scroll of Fortune has been added as a part of the Sizzling Summer Update!  Within it comes potions,  gold and even packs that you can earn by obtaining points over the next 4 months!  So, let’s see if it’s worth 7500 Crowns, and if the rewards are enough!

The Tiers

The Scroll of Fortune comes with 9 tiers. You progress on to the next tier, after fully progressing through your current one. To progress you have to earn points.

Points are earned by participating in the events that are currently active in the game. These include the Deckathalons, the Beastmoon Hunt, The Spiral Showcase, and any future events yet unknown!

Each tier requires a differing amount of points to complete, offering multiple rewards along the way as you progress!

The Rewards

Throughout the Scroll you will earn rewards as you progress. These can range from gold, to seeds, to Deckathalon packs. Completing the 9th tier comes with 32 rewards. That’s a lot of extra rewards you can earn by simply playing the events active at the time.

However, the real rewards come from that 7500 Crowns investment into the scroll! With an additional 31 rewards up for grabs, I personally will be buying the Scroll. Justifying the cost is up to you, but I don’t want to regret not taking the opportunity to be able to dab on my haters with the new dance! Or, cast awesome magic spells with a simple emote! Or, what about having piles of elixirs and potions at your disposal to make your Wizard’s life easier, whatever they may be working on in the Spiral!

So is it worth it?

The Scroll initially had a fairly poor reception from the community.  Most people seem to believe it’s a waste of Crowns. I however, don’t.  It’s 7500 crowns for four months of rewards that you can earn. If you’re worried you won’t complete the scroll and get the rewards, you can buy it AFTER you’ve completed the tiers and still claim all the previous rewards you’ve gone past!

If you need further incentive, do you really want to be that wizard who, a year down the line, has missed out on the opportunity to dab on their enemies after a PvP match..?  I think not! So, will you be purchasing the new Scroll of Fortune? Let us know in the comments below.

Crafting the Hands of Fate

The Hands of Fate are awesome wands available for crafting and would primarily be for stitching or showing off to your friends, because the last upgrade is hard!

So how do you craft them?

Well, first off you’re going to need to play the new Deckathalon.

Once you’ve gained 35 points in the event you’ll be gifted the Hands of Fate.  It’s a one time reward and is the base of all your gauntlet crafting.

After this, you’re going to have to do a lot of runs of the Deckathalon. You’re going to be grinding for school runes of all kinds.

What runes do you need?

School Runes:  Runes like Ice and Fire runes are the very basic runes. You’ll get them just by battling your way through the stages.

Enhanced Runes:  These are the second tier of runes. They’re a much rarer drop and can also be crafted.

Superior Runes:  These are the highest tier of school runes and are very rare, both from packs and drops.

Augmentation Runes:  These are dropped fairly regularly and are key for enhancing weapons.

Strengthening Rune:  The current drop location is unknown and we’re hoping they drop from the “Best Loot” tier.

Improvement Runes:  You get one Improvement Rune from the one time reward at 570 points.  They drop from the “Even Better Loot” tier too.

Ultimate Runes:  From what we’ve seen, Ultimate Runes are only available from placing on the leaderboard.

Where to craft?

Crafting the new wands is a little unique. The recipes are bought from Kara Runewright after each stage of the Deckathalon.

Once you’ve gathered everything you need to upgrade your gauntlets to the next level, run on over to the Library. Here you’ll find the Equipment Crafting Station. This is where you craft your wands for this event.

Are the Packs worth the Reagents?

In short, no. I tested them with about 3000 Crowns and only got 2 Superior Fire Runes. On average, I got four treasure cards and three regular school runes. So, when you’re trying to get the rarer runes, these are not going to be your best bet.

So, while these new Hands are awesome, they are rather tricky. The recipes become more and more difficult, as you can see with the last two stage recipes below. All we can hope is that the second and third better loot tiers drop these rarer runes more frequently. If not, grind hard because hopefully the transmute recipes will be reappearing after the event, for us to craft them all later!

How to Get Elixir Vitae

You may be wondering how to achieve the Elixir Vitae badge for healing One Million. It sounds difficult! While it’s not easy, it’s possible for any wizard. So, read through my tips and tricks for getting this badge.

The Heal

The spell you use is very important. You need to maximize your potential healing output. To do this you will use the strongest healing spell you can.

Flowering Dryad is the best possible option for this. Not even a doubled Scion of Life can live up to this bad girl, healing 3360 base with full power pips.

The average Dryad can substitute, but you will lose 15 healing per pip, a total of 210 base.

The Buffs

The buffs make all the difference. You’re going to want to use every healing buff available. Use the following spells:

• Brilliant Light
• Guiding Light
• Sanctuary Treasure Card
• Vengeful Elixir
• Shadow Seraph
• Mend Treasure Card

Let’s go through each of these cards. You can have a total of four different copies of Brilliant and Guiding Light. The trained, treasure card, item card and pet card versions. You could also use an extra 45% Guiding Light TC from the Eye of Bartelby pack, for extra insurance.

The Vengeful Elixir is critical to this strategy. You need to Critical Strike this heal to reach one million. Mend and Shadow Seraph spells will act as extra healing buffs to help you reach your goal.

The Stats

Stats are the key to success. You need to have at least 135% outgoing, and a friend with over 85% incoming to make this work.

Some items, such as the Stone of the Other Side or the Wolf’s Emerald Talon are drops. You can get these in Avalon and Wintertusk by farming bosses, or by checking the Bazaar. Combined, they give 58% outgoing! Throw in the Sword of Kings and any decent outgoing gear and you should be able to reach your target of 135%!

Remember!

You cannot use your heal without maximum power pips. Make sure you have those before you even try it!

This battle should be done against a lost soul in a peaceful realm. They don’t have a chance of defeating you and you shouldn’t have Unicorn Way bound wizards questing in your area.

If you’re not a Life wizard, be sure to equip a Life Mastery Amulet and an extra friend or more for the trained spells!

With all that said and done, go out there and get yourself an awesome badge!
