Castle Magic Update!

If you are an absolute nut about Castle Magic, you will be delighted with the new spells that KI has added! Each of the 7 schools have new “Effect” spells available. Some of the most loved spells in the game will be available when Test Realm goes live. No shadow spells at this time, (dad-gummit), but we can always hope for the next update. There is even 3 new “Utility” spells, one of which allows you to basically turn-off access to your PvP ring in your castle, if there is one.

So without further ado, *drum roll please*, let’s take a look at what is being introduced!

New Utility and Action spells

We’ll start off with the first “Utility” spell that is being added. If you have a PvP Ring in your castle, it effectively “turns off” access to it.  I could see this being useful for those large parties we like to have, helping to keep your party organized and on schedule. Just as you can control when a housing game is played, you can now control when PvP is activated.

The last one, is a wonderful addition to Utility spells.  This one will allow you to make something that appears solid, more ghostly.   Whether it’s a housing item, a pet, or a monstrology creature, you will be able to give it a shadowy appearance.

The second one we have, allows us to change the appearance of an item from shadowy, to solid. This will come in handy for the DS monstrology creatures that are ghostly looking.  You can now give them a more solid look.

Next we’ll will take a look at the only “Action” spell that is being added. This one allows you to use castle magic to port all visitors in your castle to one spot. I could see a lot of fun being had with this one!  When activated you could port everyone to a tricky place, or simply somewhere crazy.

Effect Spells by School

Each of the 7 original schools have new spells being added. They are the higher level spells that can be found in most level 130 decks. Some are rare spells normally found in packs and by farming Loremaster. Each one of them will create your favorite spell in your castle! I’ll break them down school by school for you here.

Conclusion

So there you have it!  All the fabulous new additons to Castle Magic spells. I’m very excited for it to be released live and can’t wait to bring these spells to my castles. I already have some great ideas for Headless Horseman and Krampus!  Are you excited for the new spells? Let me know in the comments!

I cannot wait to see how all you wonderfully creative Wizards use them!

Under the Deep Blue Sea

KingsIsles newest housing bundle is here!  The Undersea Enchantment Bundle is an underwater landscape that makes me wonder if they have found a piece of Atlantis and brought it to the Spiral. With the moon shining down to light the seafloor, a crab guarding the Spiral Door, and lighted bubble windows, this house is full of special touches that make you want to explore. Inside the castle you will find elegant golden scrollwork and trim, again bringing to mind the majesty of Atlantis. Is this the discovery of a lifetime? Have you found Atlantis?  Will you join the ranks of legendary explorers of years gone by? Join me as we explore the depths of the Spirals ocean and discover it’s treasures!

Briny Deep Retreat

This retreat is aptly named, it’s like your very own retreat within the heart of the deep blue sea. Arches of stone surround the perimeter with smooth columns of rock off of the edges. Coral grows from nooks and crannies blanketing the entire landscape. Presiding over the Spiral Door, a large crab sits watching the bubbles float by. Inside the crab, you will find an open cavern that you can enter. The actual castle itself lends an air of wonder to the landscape with glowing bubble-shaped windows and curved edges. The peaks have the appearance of a conch shell, twisting into the air. There is a clam that gives a daily reward. Can you find the hidden pathways? And guess what, this castle has a special new surprise! You can place your fish in it without tanks! You can also use Castle Magic on the fish you place! That just might be one of my favorite things about this new castle, just imagine all the exciting, new possibilities!

The interior is actually quite elegant. Soft ocean colors surround you on the floors and walls. A very intricate golden scrollwork is plentiful throughout the hallways and rooms, lining the walls and even creating a banister. You can also fish in the pond in the central area! A true underwater treasure sparkling with the gifts of the sea.

Dolphin Chariot Mount

This is a BIG mount, so be prepared! Now that I have that out of the way, it is so adorable! Your chariot glides majestically behind 2 dolphins, attached with golden ropes. Besides all the charm, it gives a +40% speed boost. This is going to be a lot of fun to use!

Seahorse pet

If you aren’t already having an overload of cuteness from the mount, you will now with this adorable pet!  May I present, the Seahorse pet!

Briny Deep Gear

Quite an interesting set we have here, not only stats-wise, but also in appearance. The hat has a fin across the top, the robes have scales, the cape looks like a  fish’s tail, and the boots have side fins. A very creative nautical design that fits perfectly with the theme of the castle.

Armaments of the Briny Deep

What an amazing looking wand and shield combo they have given us in this bundle! This beautiful wand is deep-sea inspired, with seashells and scrollwork embellishment. If the stats won’t work for you, it would certainly be worth using to stitch.

As usual, the bundle also comes your choice of a 1-month membership or 5000 Crowns.

Well, there you have it!  A most spectacular addition to the list of castles available. Personally,  with the gentle beauty of this one, it might just become my favorite. I’m already thinking about how to decorate it to make the most of what it has to offer. Do you plan on getting it?  What do you think of this bundle? Let  us know in the comments!

Spooky Spectacular

Halloween is such a fun time of year!  All the ghosties and goblins come out to play.  Have you ever thought about making your castle a spooky spectacular? It’s not difficult and it can be a lot of fun.  I’m going to take you on a tour of some of the really cool effects that I’ve seen, to give you some creepy inspiration! Huge shout-out to  the members from the  Facebook groups Wizard101 Community,  Wizard101 Caffeine Team, and Wizard 101 Adult Facebook group.  Thank you for inviting me to your fabulous castles!

Castles with built-in creepiness

Any castle in the game can be used to make a Halloween themed house. To make things a little easier though, KI also has 3 specifically spooky castles, 1 you can buy from the Crown shop for Gold, 1 you can Craft, and 1 that comes on a Bundle card.

The Death house is available for purchase through the Crowns Shop.  It is 10,000 Crowns or 100,000 Gold.  A very eerie home, small on the outside, but with plenty of room for added creepiness. Skull posts, candles and creepy trees help set a great atmosphere for you to decorate.

The Wyrd house is available to craft.  You will find the recipe in Avalon, from Padraig in Abbey Road.  The recipe is 60,000 Gold.  Peyton Lionheart has a fantastic article on how to go  about crafting your own Wyrd House, he covers all you need to make it.  Crafting the Wyrd House

Darkmoor Manor comes with the Witch Hunter’s Bundle (Available during Bundle-Palooza).  It’s a huge castle with many creepy, yet elegant details. It also comes with a PVP ring, Secret pathways, and a tomb that gives a daily reward.

Halloween Housing Hints

With some clever use of Monstrology, Castle Magic, and a basic float glitch, these Wizards have come up with truly creepy effects in their castles. Sometimes, a great effect can be created with just the placement of items and the way they interact with the rest of the area. Then, you have those that are glitched to create a breathtaking display.  Balance, consistency, and playing on natural fears, are the secrets to a spooky spectacular castle. Spiders, Ghosts, Wraiths and many other creatures will give the shiveries to a lot of people! Mounts and pets work great and so do housing guests received from packs and Monstrology. You can use castle magic to make them bigger, make them go invisible, and make them move around too!

Scroll through the pics to see some of my favorites.

Magical Mystery Tours Halloween Videos

Don’t they have some amazing scary, fun ideas!?  I hope you enjoyed visiting these spooky spectacular castles and seeing what makes them special.  Are you ready to create your own Halloween house?  Let us know in the comments how you plan on decorating this year!

Carnival of Creepy Fun!

KingsIsle has just released their newest bundle for Halloween!  Following what they have done in the past, this one comes with another fabulous ride for your Wizards to enjoy. You’ll find it at Gamestop for $29.00.  This bundle comes with Gear, a Mount, a Pet AND a fabulous ride on Ferris Wheel!

Come with me as we explore the “Creepier Carnival Bundle”

For me the highlight of this bundle is the Scare-Us-Wheel.  It is a 6 person rideable housing item.  Sitting on a vortex base, it has clawed arms reaching  from it’s depths.  As with the carousel, you have 4 different views to  choose from while riding it.

A wonderful addition for any Halloween castle!

Next we have the Evil Carnival Wagon.  A wonderfully eerie 4 person mount that gives +40 speed.  Done with faded shades of red and blue, it has skulls and scrollwork in gold.  A colony of bats accompanies you wherever you go.  Hanging lanterns will light your path.

So much fun to travel in!

The pet that comes with this bundle is a Frankenstein style Teddy Bear, appropriately named “Scare Bear”. A Death school pet, he comes with an animate card at baby.  With glowing red eyes and stuffing falling from his stitches, he will be a creepy addition to any pet collection.

Sinister Harlequin Gear

If you enjoy being a “trickster”, this gear is for you.  It has the classic Harlequin appearance, checkered robes, multi pointed hat with mask, and shoes with curled toes and striped socks.  As a whole, the gear isn’t the best when it comes to stats, but individually some of the pieces are pretty decent.  It all depends on the stats that you want to  have.

Mallet of the Midway

The wand that comes with the bundle isn’t impressive to look at, but, I have to admit I am pleasantly surprised by the stats.  Starting out at Tier 1 with 4% universal damage makes it a powerful piece for new wizards.  The top tier wand is also impressive with 3% pierce, 85% critical, 15% damage, 225 pip conversion, and 2 square jewel slots, making this a very useful wand to have.

There you have it!  Another wonderful Halloween bundle from KingsIsle.  I hope this will help you to decide if this is a bundle for you.  Let me know what your favorite part of it is in the comments!

Sailing with Sinbad

Join me as we set sail in Wizard101’s newest gauntlet, Sinbad and the Iron Sultan.  And guess what…..It’s Craftable!

Visit Lloyd Fallingwater in the shopping district to purchase the recipe under the furniture tab. He also has 2 new recipes for the reagents needed to craft this magnificent Gauntlet.

Recipe price for Gauntlet: 10,000 gold

Recipe price for Transmute Magnificent Clay: 2,000 gold

Recipe price for Transmute Marvelous Clay: 2,000 gold

Crafting the gauntlet requires Red Magical Clay, another new reagent that I have yet to locate as a drop within the Spiral.

You will find the Marvelous and Magical Clay reagents that are required for crafting, in the new Sinbad Hoard Pack!

The new gauntlet is also available for purchase on the Wizard 101 website.  A $39.00 bundle with the Gauntlet and 7500 Crowns!

Sinbad Hoard Pack

The gear that’s available in the new Hoard pack is the “Fleet Kapudan’s Attire”, the “Sky Captains Attire”, and the “Grand Admirals Attire”  The wand is the “Boarding Hook”. The new mount is a very cool and unusual looking 2-headed bird. Last, but definitely not least, is the Gryphon pet, which is a simply adorable puppy like creature.

Credit for the screenshot of the Kapudans Boarding Hook goes to Destiny Thunderstaff

In addition to the new gear, you will find a lot of great new housing items in the packs. These items are also dropped in the gauntlet.

There is also a new summon treasure card that comes in this pack. It’s Sinbad himself!  I cannot wait to use this and see what kind of spells he has available.

The Gauntlet

Together, we’ll travel to the Isle of Metallos upon the ship Chimera. Sinbad and his 1st mate Lemmi accompany us as we forge our way through through the depths of the dungeon.

Upon entering you find yourself at the Port of Ferros, speaking with Sinbad and his 1st mate, Lemmi.  They ask your assistance in finding and getting rid of an Evil Magician who goes by the name Hari Houssen. He has possession of a magical jewel that grants amazing transmutation powers, called the Iommi stone.  The Sultan has offered a handsome reward to anyone who can free the citizens of the Isle of Metallos from him and his minions.

The Isle of Metallos is a lava filled cave full of destruction. Craggy ledges, broken bridges, and many tunnels lend an overwhelming sense of doom throughout the entire dungeon.  Keep your eyes open, as there is a secret hidden boss within the gauntlet.

Your first mob battle will  be against a metal version of the Minotaur, a Metaltaur! They are Ice School mobs, with 4,835 health. Watch out, they are truly a “beast” to beat!

The second battle finds you up against a mob of metallic versions of Cyclops, named Chromeclops. They are Myth School with 5,565 health, and you battle 3 of them. They hit hard at over 4,500 damage, so be well protected. Made of chrome, they have a single focus, so attack on their blind side!

After defeating the cyclops, you travel on to a room where you find a metallic version of the Skeletal Pirate, aptly named Steeleton. They are Death School and have a health of 4,780.  Personally, I found them easier than the Chromeclops. I really “rattled their bones”.

After that battle, following the path that the Steeletons sent you on, you finally reach the summit. It’s there that you come face to face with Hari. When you enter, you will find him in the middle of a transmutation spell to turn his dragon into gold. As he changes into the Iron Sultan, you must stop him and retrieve the Ione Stone! *Note to KI, LOVE the guitar shred!”

For the final battle of this gauntlet you will be up against the Iron Sultan, his Golden Dragon and a Skeeleton. The Iron Sultan is Storm School, with 13,875 health. The Golden Dragon is Sun School with a health of 5,875.  The Steeleton is Death, as before with the same health of 4,780.

Make sure you have a good strong team here, the Sulton is strong with attack spells hitting well over 6,000!

Now that you have defeated the Iron Sultan and retrieved the Iommi Stone, you will be rewarded with this awesome statue to commemorate your grand adventure. Make sure you pick it up.  Well done!  As an added surprise this statue will give you a daily reward, so check it every day.

I hope this article helps you on your way to crafting the new Gauntlet, and will also help you get through it. If you find items that I have not listed, comment below and I’ll add it in and give you credit for your discovery!

Thanks for  reading!

Test Realm is Here!

Here we are again,  time for one of the most exciting “events” of the year! That’s right, test realm has gone live! This is our time, as members, to see what is coming up in the Spiral and be a part of bringing the updates to live realm. With our help, KI can polish up a new addition to the Spiral.  If you’ve never tried test realm, I highly recommend you download it and give it a try!

You can download it here:

https://www.wizard101.com/game/game-preview

Wizard City revamp is complete!

The last remaining part of Wizard City to be renovated was Crab Alley. Well, with this test realm, they have finished it! It still follows the lead from Triton Avenue in regards to “storminess”, but has a much deeper and  richer texture than ever before. As with the rest of Wizard City, the creatures are more enhanced with better details. Well done KI!  This entire revamping has been an amazing additon to the game.

Npc's have moved

The Photomancy advisor, Annie Shutterbug, is no longer hanging out by the Library.  She can now be found in Golem Court, where our next NPC used to be.

The Registrar, Mr Lincoln will now  be located in Ravenwood.  Quite appropriate as you will see next in this article.

New NPC

We now have a Resident Advisor for new incoming wizards, named Abby K. Doodle.  She’s a wonderful young lady that escorts you around Wizard City, introducing you to the many fun activities available to enjoy. She also makes sure to introduce you to the main NPC’s you need to know of. This is a wonderful addition that will definitely make things easier for new Wizards.

We meet Abby K. Doodle in Merle Ambroses office, and she invites us to come along with her on a tour of Wizard City. We start in the Commons, where we are introduced to Lucky Hookline, Zeke, and  Eloise Merryweather.  They, in turn, explain what they have to  offer for game play.

After that, she takes us to Golem Court, where we meet Annie Shutterbug and Farley and find out what ways they can help us on our journey.

She doesn’t stop there, though.  Next, we head on over to the Shopping District, where Abby tells us about all of the different shops there and the types of items they carry. We, at last, end up in Olde Town where we learn about the Bazaar and meet Elik Silverfist. Eudora Tangletree says hello as well, and introduces you to the idea of crafting in Wizard101.

Wizards will receive a badge for going on the tour with her, but it is currently un-named in test realm as of publish.

Meeting the Professors

Another great change for new Wizards is the way you get to meet the Professors for the first time.  After completing Unicorn Way, Merle Ambrose sends you to Mr. Lincoln at Ravenwood to register. Surprise, surprise, all the Professors are right there! They stand together to welcome you to the Spiral. They take turns introducing themselves, then your school Professor teleports you to  the school. Cool, huh?!

So much easier than having to run to each school to meet them!

Harold Argleston

Harold Argleston, the Librarian, has added some extra spells to his inventory.  No, sorry, not new spells, but ones that can be hard to find.  The cards that have been added are: Balance Blade, Nature’s Wrath, Sandstorm, Blizzard, Stormzilla, Hex, and each school’s Traps.

Woohoo for the Balance Blades and Hex!

Quick Sell Changes

They have changed up the Quick Sell process and you can now sell your pets and crown items for gold! I love this, as I dislike having to just trash items or pets that I do not want or need when I don’t have the time to go all the way to the Shopping District to sell them. The Quick Sell button has moved and is now located on the lower left hand side of your tome.  Because of the ability to actually sell a Crowns item, they have implemented an extra “Are you  sure you want to sell these items”, verification. This helps us to make sure we aren’t accidentally selling something we truly want or need.

One last  little thing, before finishing this off. I noticed while starting off with a new Wizard, that there was a new healing spell attached to the wand that Merle Ambrose gave me. I personally have never seen it before. It was called “Heartbeat”. A 1 pip spell that delivers 245  health. I do not know whether it is a new spell they are adding in but it seems that way.

That concludes this walk through of the new updates coming that are on Test Realm right now. What do you  think of the new changes? Let us know your thoughts on these fabulous changes coming to Wizard 101!

Amber is also commonly dropped by the secret bosses in Mount Olympus and Tartarus, Aquilla.

This concludes the overview of all castles that are available to craft in Wizard101. I have crafted them all and have to say, for me, the hardest was the Treetop Getaway.  They all have their own degree of difficulty, be proud of yourself for accomplishing this challenge if you manage to craft even one! Let me know in the comments which castles you have crafted or plan to craft, and what challenges you are facing!

Superstacking Large Plants

Gardening is such an amazing way of getting Mega Snacks, TC’s, reagents and of course GOLD!  Making the most of your gardens space is very important. Here is an easy way to have a 56 large plant garden, and it’s basically error free.  When completed, it will have 2 inside rows with 32 large plants and 2 outer rows with 24 large plants.

Start with the Basics

The best way to get started is to have a castle that is considered a plant like. Currently, the castles that all plants like are:

Botanical Gardens – The Botanical Gardens are available with the Evergreen Bundle Gift Card (Sometimes available during special events, in the Crowns Shop for 12,500 Crowns)

Red Barn Farm – This castle is available from the Crowns Shop for 12,500 Crowns or 125,000 Gold

Everafter Village – This castle is available in the Fantastic Fairytale Bundle.  It can be found at Gamestop online and in stores for $39.00

You’ve bought your castle, so now it’s time to get the supplies you’ll need to get your stacked garden, “off the ground”…..pun intended! These are the items I use, most of which can be found at the Bazaar.

Items for Stacking

27 Crates:
The preferred ones are:
*Crate of Jellybeans

Last, but not least, a little bit of research has to be done so you will know what your plants will like.  Try to get as many of your plant’s likes as you can.  The following is an example of likes for Couch Potatoes, a popular large plot plant.

Your plants likes may differ from this list.

Tropical Garden Gnome
Ultra King Parsley
Sandwich Station
King Parsley
Litter
Pixie

After collecting all your needed items, it’s time to get started!  Setting up a  large plot garden is a little bit different than setting up a medium plot garden. This video will take you through every step to creating your own 56 large plant garden.

I hope this helps you maximize your rewards from gardening!  Let me know in the comments which large plants you used in your new max stacked garden and what rewards you are looking to harvest.

Superstacking Medium Plants

Gardening is such an amazing way of  getting Mega Snacks, TC’s, reagents and of course GOLD!  Making the most of your gardens space is very important. Here is an  easy way to have a 64 medium plant  garden, and it’s basically error free.  When completed, it will be 4 plants high, 4 plants wide, and 4 plants deep.

Happy Gardening!

Happily Everafter

This incredible new castle is by far one of my favorites! The entire estate is full of fairytales and fables, from Mother Goose to The Brothers Grimm. What truly caught my attention was the morals behind the fairytales represented. I don’t know if KingIsle had an ulterior motive behind their selection of fables, but if they did…..BRAVO! Each area of this home has positive morals hidden within the fable itself.

The Land of Fairytales and Fables

As we arrive through the Spiral Door, we see many pathways leading from a central farmhouse.  The central farmhouse also has a small barn with a secret tunnel that leads to the main house. There are multiple gardening areas all around the central farmhouse. As a bonus, this house is a like for your plants! There is also a lovely lake with a stream for fishing. I haven’t quite figured out what fairytale the main farmhouse represents. Maybe Jack and the Beanstalk? What do you think it could be? I would love to hear your ideas in the comments below!

The first house we’ll visit represents Mother Goose and The Old Woman who lived in a Shoe. It’s a multi-level house, 4 stories inside, with quaint details. The last 2 stories are reached by climbing a ladder, how fun! The rooms inside are smallish, but have plenty of space for decorating in your style.

In the Old Woman and the Shoe, there is a woman who has so many children she doesn’t know what to do! The moral of this story is, listen to your parents and have good behavior.

From there we go to visit the 3 Little Pigs, a fable originally published in 1886. You’ll find a straw house, a house of twigs, and a brick house. These are cute little 1 room shacks.  To the left of them is a path that when followed takes you through a cave to the next house.

Just as the 3 Little Pigs worked hard to accomplish their dreams, so can you!  The moral of this story is you can accomplish anything with hard work and dedication.

The next house we come to is the witches’ house from the Brothers Grimm tale, Hansel and Gretel. This is a fabulous rendition of the enticing candy house. The entire structure is covered in sweet treats that sparkle in the sunlight. The interior has 2 rooms that are vibrantly colored, matching the outside. If you go through the side of the large tree stump, it takes you underground, coming out int the main area of the castle.

Hansel and Gretel got into loads of trouble because they didn’t listen to their parents and trusted someone they didn’t know. The moral of this story is to always listen to your parents and don’t trust strangers.

After climbing a hill, we find ourselves at a wishing well. This well has a daily gift for your Wizard! On this occasion I recieved gold and a pet snack. Climbing a hill to a well is from an old 18th century nursery rhyme, Jack and Jill.

Jack was in such a hurry that he forgot to stay safe and be careful.  The moral in this story is to avoid being hasty and do things carefully.

Rising to the sky we have the Brothers Grimm again, this time with Rapunzels Tower. This whimsical structure has 3 stories with a winding walkway that circles around the main floors.

Rapunzel dreamed of getting out of her tower and patiently waited for that wonderful day to arrive. The moral of this story is to never give up on your hopes and dreams!

There is a hidden door behind the waterfall that takes you to the lower level of Rapunzels Tower!

The mount that comes with the bundle is none other than the Pumpkin Carriage from Cinderella! This is another great multi-person mount from KingsIsle, this one with stunning details.

Cinderella had a hard life but kept a happy heart no matter what. The moral in this story is to be kind, forgive others, and don’t let bad things ruin a good heart.

The pet that comes with this bundle is the adorable, or should I say “toadorable” Noble Toad!  As his crown shows, he comes from a long line of Noble Toads!

Gear fit for a King or Queen

If you’ve ever wanted to have a regal look, this is the gear for you. The stats won’t replace your dungeon farmed gear, but it will make an amazing stitch!

This wand is utterly amazing, so very eerie!  It’s called Poison Apple.  Once again, the stats are not the greatest but it would be another awesome stitch. Does anyone remember where a poison apple comes from? That’s right, Snow White!

Snow White was envied for her inner beauty as much as for her outer beauty.  Her good-hearted trust in everyone caused problems for her.  The moral to this story is that real beauty comes from within, and once again don’t trust strangers.

KingsIsle has outdone themselves with this bundle!  Not only is it an adorable castle with many features, but it also has wonderful morals for the children of the game. I hope you enjoyed this walkthrough of the Fantastic Fairytale Farm! If you see any other fairytales or fables represented that I missed, let us know in the comments below! Until next time, may all your dreams come true!
