Meet Angelica Windspar

A sister joins the team!

We have an exciting addition to the Housing Tours office! Angelica Windspar has decided to join her sisters Myrella and Eliza. I do believe that “everything housing” is their family motto. I wish they’d offer stock options, as they do booming business! Angelica’s a crafty cat and brings some fabulous new recipes for our crafting pleasure. Attractive and functional, I’m sure you will enjoy their uses.

Angelicas Recipe Book

Angelica was kind enough to let me peek in her crafting recipe book. Here are the beautiful things I saw that she brought to Housing Tours. Useful housing items, invisible housing blocks, and even a new apartment! She has an exciting variety of new treasures to suit any Wizard.

So without further ado, let’s check out what she has to offer!

As with some other crafting recipes, there are badges you must get to buy the recipe. You can earn the badges by visiting and voting on different castles. Here are the ones I have found :

Castle Tourist-Vote on 10 castles

Castle Auditor-Vote on 100 castles

Castle Inspector-(Vote on 1000 castles?)

Castle Assessor-Unknown

All the new recipes need reagents that can be easily acquired except for one. In this update, a new reagent was introduced; they’re called “Blueprint Tokens.” One known way of getting them is through The Spiral Scene housing tours event. KI has also mentioned they may become available from other sources in the future, like the Scroll of Fortune.

Babbage Basset

No more running to Marleybone for your Castle Magic needs. You can craft your very own Babbage Basset to have in your castle. Very convenient, to say the least!

6 new banks

A great time-saver is the new bank item that you can place anywhere in your castle, for your convenience. With six versions available, I’m sure you will find one to suit your style.

New housing blocks

Angelica has something special for all the housing fanatics. Recipes for invisible housing blocks! As a fanatic myself, I can think of some fantastic and incredible ways to use them.

I can’t wait to see what you all create with them!

Spiral Door

If you have ever wished you could have a Spiral Door elsewhere in your castle, your wishes have been granted. Craft this and place it wherever your heart desires.

I’ll definitely be placing them all around my castles.

a new apartment!

Woohoo! Looky here! Last but not least, we have a new craftable apartment!

Your fabulous new apartment will be located across from the Fairegrounds in the Commons. What a lively place for a home! It’s the same basic style as the craftable one from Derrick Blaze at the Team-Up Kiosk. This recipe calls for A LOT of Blueprint Tokens, so I sure do hope they aren’t too hard to get. With such a great location, though, it will be well worth the effort.

Thanks for Reading!

Well, there you have it. All the new recipes are available at the Housing Tours office in the Commons. I think they are a great addition to the game. You can bet I’ll be utilizing most if not all of them. Leave a comment and let me know what you think. Will you be crafting them? Have you thought of a clever use for a new item? Let us know in the comments below or the housing channel at Ravenwood Community! See you there.

Shark Week

Happy Shark Week!

Hello Wizards, it’s Erin EagleCaller, and Shark Week is here! All week in Wizard101, we’re celebrating the fantastic sharks of the Spiral!

During this event, you have a chance to catch the Warhammerhead as well as all seven Stubby Sharks. It’s also the perfect time to catch the seasonal fish, the Basking in the Sun Shark! You can find these magnificent fish scattered in various locations throughout the Spiral.

Shark Week comes to the Spiral but once a year. Usually near the end of July or the first week of August. Yet, it’s one of the few times; we can find all the Stubby Sharks together (except the Warhammerhead). It’s a big opportunity for Wizard101’s Fishing enthusiasts. You won’t want to miss it!

In light of this, allow me to fill you in on how you can catch these magical fish.

Warhammerhead and Stubby Sharks

The best spots to find the Warhammerhead and Stubby Sharks are in the Commons and Northguard. Since they’re both Rank 2, use the Rank 2 Winnow to help find them. Then using Reveal Fish School spell to help catch them all.

You’ll want to use the corresponding lure to the shark that you want to catch. I’d suggest a minor or common fishing lure of the same school to capture them.

If you don’t have the Rank 2 Winnow spell, you can get around it using Reveal Fish Rank 1. Because the Warhammerhead and the Stubby Sharks are all Rank 2 fish, the spell won’t mark them. That way, you can be sure that it is a Warhammerhead or Stubby Shark! Remember, all Stubby Sharks are the same rank regardless of school.

Basking in the Sun Shark

Don’t forget to catch the Summer Fish, the Basking in the Sun Shark! They’re staying with us for the entire Summer; if you don’t find one during Shark Week, don’t fret! Remember to snag one before the season ends to complete your shark collection.

The Commons is the best choice for finding the Basking in the Sun Shark. Using reveal fish school, take notice to which are fish are Fire school. Then using any Fire Lure, you’ll want to catch the larger fish in the pond. The Basking in the Sun Shark is almost double the length of your lure, making them easy to spot.

Shark Locations

Warhammerhead

The Warhammerhead is in Wizard City’s Triton Avenue; yet, they’re not a common catch. So, it’s not the ideal spot to find them.

This shark is also found in Grizzleheim. Look for them in Northguard, Helgrind Warren, Mirkholm Keep, and the Vigrid Roughland.

This fish can be housed in a Regular Aquarium

Stubby Sharks and Basking in the Sun Sharks

Stubby Sharks and Basking in the Sun Sharks have a wide range of fishing spots. They’re in Wizard City, Krokotopia, Mooshu, Grizzleheim, Zafaria, and Avalon.

In Wizard City, they are in the Commons. If you’ve begun the Immortal Games in Aquila, these sharks are also in the Garden of Hesperides.

As for the other worlds, you can find them in the Oasis, the Jade Palace, Northguard, the Baobab Crossroads, and Caliburn.

Although less common, the Basking in the Sun Shark can be found in every Castle or House that has a fishing pond.

Both of these fish can be housed in a Regular Aquarium.

Thanks for Reading!

That’s all for Shark Week this year. Thank you so much for reading our guide. I hope this helps you in your shark hunt, happy fishing!

Make sure to check out all the other great fishing guides at Ravenwood Academy! Happy Fishing Wizards! :Pacuman::Pacuman::Pacuman:

Fishing: Wizard City

A beautiful part of Wizard101 is fishing. It can be a great way to spend some time with friends without the pressure of battle and strategy. Fishing will take you to some corners of the Spiral you may not have taken the time to explore before. Like any great hobby in Wizard101, it can lead to some great rewards.

But how can one start? What quests do you do, what fish are in the game, and where can you find them? I will guide you through all the basic information you need to get started.

Lucky Hookline is the fishing trainer. He will give you your first fishing mission and fishing spells. Before you start, read the Tome for Fishing next to Lucky Hookline.

Lucky Hookline: the Fishing Trainer.

1st quest: “A River Runs Through It”

Level 7 is needed to start this quest

Catch one in Commons:

Frost Dekoi / Ice Rank 1

Icecuda / Ice Rank 1

Reward: Lesser Frost Lure

When you have caught these fish turn them in to Lucky Hookline. He will give you an energy refill so you can continue your fishing quest!

You can also buy the other school lures now. They cost 1000 gold each and are as follows:

Lesser Harmony Lure / Lesser Repose Lure / Lesser Flame Lure / Lesser Vitality Lure / Lesser Fable Lure / Lesser Spark Lure

These are all important bait spells for catching rank 1 fish.

You can also buy spells to help find and see the type of fish in a pool. These cost 1000 gold and unlock at level 2 fishing:

Reveal Fish = Reveal the location of all Fish

Reveal Fish School = Reveal the Magic School of all Fish

These are great spells to have because they make fishing easier.

Now that you have finished your first quest, Lucky will give you a second one:

2nd quest: “Fishful Thinking”

Sharkspeare / Ice Rank 1 in Olde Town

Mechanical Armorhead / Storm Rank 1 in Cyclops Lane

Catfish / Fire Rank 1 in The Commons

Garrrfish / Ice Rank 1 in Cyclops Lane

Fish Sandwich / Myth Rank 1 in Cyclops Lane

Mainstream Dekoi / Balance Rank 1 in The Commons

Bone Fish / Death Rank 1 in Unicorn Way

The quest might seem overwhelming, but it helps you learn the basics. It’s also a great way to explore Wizard City! Wizard City contains over 50 different fish. It also has seasonal fish that appear for a few days or months during special events. Every fish gives initial experience ranging from 900-2000. Less experience is earned after the first time you catch each kind of fish.

The best way to get started is to go to all areas and use the Reveal Fish School. Use your spells to catch as many different fish as you can in the world.

You can find unique fish in other wizards’ houses. Visit Castle Tours in the Commons to find new fish!

Tips

Fishing takes patience, but it’s a great way to use your unused energy.

You can keep your best fish and display them in aquariums, or sell your fish to Lucky Hookline for gold!

Don’t forget that the fish you see in front of you are not the same fish other wizards see. Other players cannot catch or scare your fish away. However, if you catch a fish or scare it away, it will be replaced after 15 minutes.

If the pond does not have the right school of fish, scare them away by running in the water and come back later!

Also remember that the first time you go to an area, they load the names of the fish. Of course, this is hard to see but always keep it in mind about rare and epic fish.

Our next destination is Grizzleheim!

Until then, see more information about fishing here:

Good luck!

The WizardCity Orchestra

Intended for Musician and Non-Musician Alike

Wizard City, founded by Merle Ambrose, composed by Nelson Everhart, has an unexplainable joy located in the centre of the world that is uniquely magical. As we cross the line from magic to music, we will analyze through this guide the music that aids the story of the first world we step in. This is unique kind of guide- guided listening!

Music typically aids a story. A leitmotif is a form of musical aid when music is played to represent a specific character or theme. Famously used in Richard Wagner’s 15 hour Opera, The Ring Cycle (home of “The Ride of The Valkyries”). Leitmotifs often relate to each other in a musical way to present continuity in the aesthetic of what it represents.

“Main Theme”

One of the most iconic themes presented in Wizard City is located within The Commons. Throughout this article, a theme is defined as the main melody within a piece of music. I stress this, because we typically think of a theme as the piece as a whole.

This melody, notated above, is a descending major scale with some notes fluttering down faster than others in what is called sixteenth notes. We also have notes going back and forth between each other- a common characteristic in most of the Wizard City melodies. What is a major scale? It is commonly referred to as a collection of notes played in a specific order (Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do, if you are familiar with Solfege and/or The Sound of Music) that comes off as “happy” in tone.

We begin the melody on the English Horn, a relative to the oboe before being taken from the light and airy flute. Pizzicato strings snap along, giving a bouncy vibe. Please note, I only transcribed the underlying bassline and not the complete strings section. For simplicity’s sake, the example is written in concert pitch.

As we drive away from the complex aspects of music theory and orchestration, how does this make us feel? It makes us feel happy and relaxed. “The Commons” is for gathering with the community, and with the few instruments playing at any given time, it feels intimate and easy-going. The light atmosphere is perfect for a passing place to collect quests, or to simply walk on by.

“Theme 1”

Next, we have the original Ravenwood theme. The horn begins by ascending a dissonant Lydian arpeggio coming to a resolution within the next measure. After that, we repeat that same idea, but go down a whole tone scale, similar to how we went down a scale in The Commons theme. The music of Ravenwood is meant to be glorious and bestilling; to be standing before an ancient being as grand as Bartleby and to feel his serene vibe.

The strings respond to the horn, going back and forth between two notes in nearly the same rhythm the horn did, stating the theme as it develops. The Commons theme too, went back and forth between two notes in its melody, connecting these two melodies in a very subtle way.

“Theme 2”

We continue to explore Wizard City with Olde Town. The selection I picked from here begins at 00:27 seconds into the third track. This is the point we truly see the themes come together. The horn begins with a melodic shape that will develop into Theme 3’s main melody, then using that with a descending scale, similar to the whole tone scale used in Theme 1. There is then a key change that develops the first statement into A major, continuing onto a fragment similar to the main Commons theme.

After that climax, the strings (or clarinet in the rendition above) relax with a rhythmically slowed-down version of the Commons theme, developing its character. This is where our Wizard accepts the three streets questline and ventures forth, representing how they are becoming more at home with the world they magically were summoned to.

“Theme 3″

The orchestra ventures to Unicorn Way, the starting point of all trauma our wizards suffer. The clarinet soothingly hums out a happy, twinkling theme.

It goes to and fro between thirds with passing tones in between, similar to the starting melody of Theme 2. But this specific melody develops until it begins to ascend. This is the first time we have purposely shaped the melody to ascend. This is the largest the melody has ascended, even from the beginning ascension of the Ravenwood Theme.

We go through a key change as the horn reaches the climax of the piece. The horn reaches a high Eb, the highest note used in the melody so far. Both of these show a deeper meaning that our Wizards will reach great lengths in their future. The future of our Wizard’s life is hinted that we will be expected to do great things during our time in Ravenwood, and the music encompasses that idea.

After an instrumental interlude, we return to the classic Commons melody, but the ending has developed. Before it was five notes, now it is seven.

Thank you, Starlights, for venturing through my tour of The Wizard City Orchestra. Have a wonderful night.

Disclaimer:

Please note: I transcribed the music from the original/classic mode music scrolls. Not all of my transcriptions are 100% accurate, but they are close and the rhythm is properly notated. The Golem Tower, Wizard City Combat, and Wizard City Dreamworld Themes did not fit in with the above, so I have not included them in this presentation.
